Cannabis, cash seized in Gold Coast raids

TWO men have been charged after police allegedly uncovered a drug lab and a stockpile of cannabis and cash in separate raids on the Gold Coast.

Police raided a 27-year-old man’s home on Bonsun Avenue in Ashmore on Thursday morning.

During the operation, officers allegedly found over $7000 in cash, a large quantity of cannabis, restricted drugs and other drug paraphernalia.

The 27-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on June 11.

Meanwhile, police have uncovered two sophisticated hydroponic drug labs at a home in Currumbin Waters.

Officers stormed the Simpson Road home on Friday morning and allegedly found 14 mature cannabis plants growing in two bedrooms.

A significant amount of chemical fertiliser, pots, 21 cannabis seedlings and lighting equipment was also seized from the home.

A 66-year-old Currumbin Waters man was arrested and charged with one count each of possessing and producing dangerous drugs.

He is due to appear in Coolangatta Magistrates Court on Monday, June 3.

Investigations into both discoveries are continuing.
