Cars torched after Miami smash and grab

DESPERATE thieves have used a stolen car to smash their way into a Gold Coast sport club this morning.

Police said the car was driven through the front main glass doors of the junior sporting club on Sonia Street, Miami around 2.45am Monday, causing extensive damage.

A cash register which was stolen from the club house was found in one of two burnt out Hyundai Excels which had been torched on Petunia Street a short time later.

Police say they believe the vehicles are linked to the break and enter. Investigations are continuing.
