UPDATE @ 12.00 PM | TRAFFIC is now banked up for almost 50km on the Pacific Motorway as holiday-makers head out to enjoy the sunshine.
The chaos begins as soon as motorists hit Eight Mile Plains in Brisbane and continues southbound all the way to Helensvale on the Gold Coast.
At the moment there’s a clear run from Arundel to Carrara until the gridlock begins again at Worongary and remains at a standstill until motorists reach Currumbin.

Roads in Labrador and Southport, including Marine Parade and the Gold Coast Highway are also bumper to bumper.
Drivers are being urged to allow for extra travel time and to remain patient.

EARLIER @ 10.30 AM | The Pacific Motorway is in gridlock today as holiday-makers head out to enjoy the beautiful Gold Coast sunshine.
The M1 is experiencing lengthy delays in a number of sections on the busy stretch, with southbound traffic from Ormeau to Helensvale bumper to bumper.
Traffic is again stopped southbound from Worongary all the way down to Currumbin, with delays also starting to build northbound from Tugun.
An earlier crash northbound on the M1 near Currumbin around 9.30am only added to the chaos.
A woman was assessed at the scene by paramedics, however she did not require transport to hospital.
Roads in Labrador and Southport, including Marine Parade and the Gold Coast Highway, are also heavily congested with motorists being urged to allow for extra travel time.
