Child, 7, critical after car hits tree

A SEVEN-year-old girl has been left fighting for her life in hospital following a shocking crash in Central West New South Wales.

Police said the family car left the road and smashed into a tree on Henry Lawson Way at Glenelg, 40km south of Forbes, about 4pm on Saturday.

The driver, a 43-year-old woman, and a seven-year-old girl believed to be her daughter were both airlifted to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.


Police said the little girl remains in a critical condition, while the woman is listed as “stable”.

Local police, as well as officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
