Child charged after allegedly burning down house in violent rampage

A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has allegedly gone on a violent rampage and burnt down a house in northern NSW.

Emergency services were called to the house ablaze at Invergowrie, west of Armidale, on Tuesday night.

The teen is accused of attacking two people and smashing-up two cars at the Bundarra Road property before setting the house on fire around 8.40pm.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, but not before it caused extensive damage to the home.

The 14-year-old girl was arrested at the scene and driven 20km to the Armidale Police Station.

There, the child was charged with three counts of common assault, two counts of malicious damage and one count of damage property by fire.

The 14-year-old was released on bail and is due to appear in a Children’s Court next month.
