Child critical after being struck by falling tree in Qld

A YOUNG boy is in a critical condition with “head to toe” injuries after a tree fell on top of him at a property near Coolabunia.

Emergency crews were called to Hodgleigh just after 11am, with the rescue chopper also tasked to the scene soon after.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the child has suffered multiple serious injuries from head to toe, including head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and lower limbs.

It’s understood bystanders used 4WDs to remove the tree off the boy, who was trapped, before paramedics arrived.

He’s expected to be airlifted to a Queensland hospital shortly.

It comes after wild storms lashed the region on Thursday.
