UPDATE @ 3.00 PM | A CHILD has died after being hit by a car in northern NSW today.
The nine-year-old girl was struck on Cameron Road, at McLeans Ridges, around 9.30am.
She was treated at the scene by paramedics for critical injuries before being rushed to Lismore Base Hospital.

NSW Police confirmed in a statement a short time ago that the young girl has sadly passed away.
The driver of the car, a 54-year-old man, was also taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests, and to be treated for shock.
A crime scene has since been established, which is being examined by forensic police.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are also on scene conducting inquiries.
Police say Cameron Road is expected to be closed for several hours with motorists being urged to use alternative routes.

The youngster was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to Lismore Base Hospital where she is understood to be in a critical condition.
The driver of the sedan, a man, was also taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests, and to be treated for shock.
A crime scene has been established which is currently being examined by forensic police.
