Child killed, two others injured in shocking crash

A CHILD has been killed and two others have been injured in a shocking single-vehicle crash in country Victoria.

It happened at Shepparton, in the state’s north, just after 1am on Saturday.

Police said a Holden Commodore travelling west on Wanganui Road smashed into a pole near Kittles Road.

A 12-year-old boy sitting in the front passenger seat died at the scene. It’s believed the boy was killed on impact.

Two other passengers aged 10 and 14, were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

Victoria Police said the surviving children’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The 35-year-old man who was driving the car is assisting police with their investigation.

The Major Collision Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
