Child rushed to hospital after near drowning in Surfers Paradise

A young boy has been taken to hospital after nearly drowning in a pool at Surfers Paradise.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC that the youngster was reportedly found at the bottom of the pool at a resort off Ferny Avenue just before 10.00am.

The spokesperson said the child was quickly rescued from the water and given oxygen prior to Ambulance crews arriving on scene.

He was then treated by paramedics before being transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

With a heatwave forecast for South East Queensland over the coming days, parents are being reminded to keep a close eye on children when in and around water.
