Christmas Carols on the Gold Coast 2014

CHRISTMAS is fast approaching so now is the season to be jolly.

If you are not yet feeling the Christmas cheer, singing along to some carols is sure to get you and your family into the festive spirit.

Here is our pick of where to enjoy some cheery tunes this year:

Saturday 13th December

Mayor’s Christmas Carols
Time: 4.30pm – 8.30pm
Where: Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport
Get into the festive spirit and sing your heart out at the third annual Mayor’s Christmas Carols. Along with Luke Kennedy (runner up on ‘The Voice 2013’), there will be local artists including David De Vito, The Lions Den, Candice Skjonnemand, The Full Stops and Bob La Castra, just to name a few. Event kicks off at 4.30pm with pre-show entertainment featuring roving Christmas characters and free Christmas art and craft workshops. The main show starts at 5pm with a spectacular fireworks display to finish off the evening, plus the arrival of Santa. LED candles and Christmas items will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to a local charity. Food and beverage also available for purchase.

Broadbeach Christmas Carols
Time: commencing at 3pm
Where: Kurrawa Park, Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach
Family fun from 3pm with carols starting at 6pm featuring an amazing line up of performers including the incredible Marina Prior and the ever talented Denis Walter supported by The Boogie Woogies, the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and the Gold Coast Choir. A visit from Santa and the Broadbeach elves will also make an appearance. There will also be plenty of food stalls in the park and a spectacular fireworks display at the conclusion of the concert.

Pacific Pines Christmas in the Park
Time: 5pm – 8pm
Where: Central Park, Hotham Drive, Pacific Pines
Sing along to your favourite carols with the Southland Band, Santa, and local entertainers. Fireworks begin at 7:45pm! Free children’s activities. Free entry. Bring your torch, rug and picnic, or grab a meal from one of the food vendors.There will be competitions for best kids Christmas outfits; best ‘Spirit of Christmas’ family group costume and spot prizes for ‘great little dancers’.

Sunday 14th December

Colgate Palmolive Carols in the Park
Time: Pre-entertainment 6pm – 7pm; Concert 7pm – 9pm
Where: Colgate Palmolive Park, Allied Drive, Arundel
The concert features talented local acts, including great jazz singer, Liam Burrows, and will be hosted by television personalities, Eva Milic and Paul Burt. Food stalls and kids jumping castle, face painting and glow sticks on offer. Entertainment will be followed by a fireworks display and a special visit by Santa. Please note this is an alcohol free event.

Coolangatta Christmas Concert
Time: Commencing 5pm
Where: Queen Elizabeth Park, corner McLean Street and Marine Parade, Coolangatta
Enjoy some of the Coast’s most talented artists with a concert to welcome in the festive season.

Ormeau Carols – A Lot Like Christmas
Time: food and free rides from 4pm; Carols 7pm – 9pm
Where: Brien Harris Oval, Peachey Road, Ormeau
Ormeau Carols is a great event for the whole family to get along to join in the joy of Christmas. There will be food stalls, free rides, a visit from Santa, Holly and Hunter, fireworks display plus all of your favourite Christmas carols!

Monday 15th December

Christmas by the Sea
Time: 4pm – 9pm
Where: Palm Beach Parklands, 945 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach
Free family friendly Christmas carols with church and school choirs, fireworks, face painters and barn yard animals. Food and beverage available for purchase.

Saturday 20th December

Carols on the Broadwater
Time: 4pm – 7.30pm
Where: Southport Yacht Club, 1 Macarthur Parade, Main Beach
A free fun family event for everyone – members, guests and visitors! Face painting and glow sticks for the kids with Santa visit at 5.30pm.

Sunday 21st December

Jacobs Well Community Carols by Candlelight
Time: 5pm – 8pm
Where: Jacobs Well Community Centre and Oval, 27 Bay Drive, Jacobs Well
Sausage sizzle and children’s entertainment at 5pm with Carols starting at 6.30pm. Performances from local talent, a visit from Santa and fireworks concluding the event around 8pm. Baked goods, glow sticks, sausage sizzle, cold drinks and coffee available for purchase.

Carols on the Beach
Time: 6.30pm – 8pm
Where: Surfers Paradise Beach, Surfers Paradise
Bring a blanket and enjoy an evening of song with the whole family at the Surfers Paradise Carols on the Beach presented by G:link. Jay Laga’aia will host the event and will be supported by a star-studded line-up of Australian artists including Rachael Beck, Candice Skjonnemand, Paradise Kids Choir, Maske, and Figaro. If you’re lucky, you might even get a sneak peek of Santa himself!Make sure you stick around for a magical end to the night as Surfers Paradise lights up with fireworks, spreading the Christmas cheer to all.
