Cigarette thief on the run after robbing Gold Coast servo armed with knife

AN armed man is on the run after robbing a service station in Nerang overnight.

Just before 8.00pm, the man entered the servo on Riverview Road and threatened a female staff member with a knife.

Police said the woman ran to the back of the store and locked herself in a room.

The man has then removed some cigarettes and left the store on foot.

He is described as Caucasian, 190cm tall and of medium build.

Police are appealing for anyone with relevant dash cam vision or who has further information to come forward.
