Police are on the hunt for two armed thieves who threatened a cleaner at gunpoint during a terrifying ram-raid at a Gold Coast shopping centre.

A 52-year-old man, who was working as a cleaner in the shopping centre, saw the commotion unfolding.

One of the offenders then pulled out a gun and demanded the cleaner move away from the store.

The pair then stole a quantity of jewellery before fleeing in the Rav4, which was later found on fire at the nearby Ellioh Court.

Queensland Police have revealed the car was stolen from  an address at Abbott Court, Guanaba, around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Investigations continue.
