From tomorrow, Coles will introduce its Quiet Hour to an additional three supermarkets on the Gold Coast in a bid to make the shopping environment easier for people with Autism.
Coles at Hope Island, Benowa Village and Nerang will join Helensvale and Mudgeeraba in hosting the Quiet Hour, which is a low sensory shopping experience that’s easy on the eyes and ears.
For an hour every Tuesday, Coles will dim their lights by 50 per cent, switch the radio off and reduce register and scanner volume to the lowest level.

Trolley collections will also be halted during Quiet Hour, whilst announcements over the PA system will be limited to only emergencies.
Additional staff will also be on hand to support customers with anything they may need during the one hour period.
The rollout of Quiet Hour comes after the supermarket received an overwhelming amount of positive customer feedback on the initiative.
“We’ve listened to our customers and have worked hard to make our stores more welcoming and responsive to the needs of the local communities in which we operate,” Coles State General Manager Reagan Lauder said.
Quiet Hour will now expand from just 14 Coles stores to 41 stores throughout the state every Tuesday between 10:30-11:30am.
