Construction ramps up for GC600 – here’s what motorists need to know

Now that Bathurst is done and dusted, it’s full steam ahead for the Gold Coast 600!

Motorists are being warned they may experience further disruptions along the Gold Coast Highway, especially in the Main Beach area this week, as grandstand and fencing construction ramps up for the event.

Supercars Gold Coast says partial lane closures will take place on Main Beach Parade from 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday – Friday, with full road closures from 6:00am to 8:00am on Wednesday.

“The road closures will only be in place for 15 minutes at a time with diversions in place,” Supercars Gold Coast says.

There will also be partial lane closures on Breaker Street from 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday – Friday, and from Thursday, the right turn into Paradise Waters will be reduced to allow for a grandstand build.

“Whilst access to Paradise Waters will be maintained at all times, delays in this area may be experienced.”

Motorists are being urged to allow for extra travel time if driving through the construction area.

The GC600 will take place from October 19-21.
