Couple’s Gold Coast escape leads to $10,000 Instant Scratch-Its win

An ecstatic couple visiting Broadbeach from the Darling Downs this week discovered they were $10,000 richer after scratching one of the top prizes on a $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The thrilled couple purchased their ticket at Broadbeach Oasis News, shop G35A, Oasis Shopping Centre, Broadbeach.

Speaking with a Golden Casket official yesterday, the happy woman described how they came to hold their winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“We don’t usually buy Instant Scratch-Its, but because we are on holidays, we thought we might buy some to enjoy while we were relaxing,” she said.

“We initially bought five $1 Instant Scratch-Its tickets and we won about $5 off them, so we went back to the same outlet and bought five more.

“Once we scratched that ticket, we thought we could have won, but didn’t actually believe it.

“We were in a state of disbelief until we went back to the newsagency and the lady confirmed it.

“We just kept saying to the lady- ‘Did we win? Did we really?’

“We are just so excited and happy about it! This holiday is even better than we expected.”

The winning woman shared the couple’s plans for their instant windfall.

“We are still in a state of disbelief. We haven’t been able to process it properly, so I am not sure what we will do with it all,” she explained.

“The first thing we did though was extend our holiday, because we just thought ‘why the hell not?’.

“There’s so much to do on the Gold Coast, so we are in prime position to enjoy our win.

“This actually was a last minute getaway for us, so we feel as though it was meant to be. Broadbeach is extra special to us now.

“We would love to come back to the Gold Cast when its summer and enjoy our win properly then!”

Broadbeach Oasis News co-owner Mathew Jacobson said the outlet was ecstatic to have sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“It is so fantastic, we are over the moon,” he exclaimed.

“We are definitely going to be celebrating the win.

“The couple said that this was the best holiday they ever had, so we are really happy for them.

“We have sold a few top prize and division one tickets in the past, but we are hoping to sell some more winning tickets soon. The more we sell, the better!”
