Crane comes crashing down on Gold Coast construction site

A MAN has had a lucky escape after a crane came crashing down on a construction site on the northern Gold Coast.

It happened at the new Westfield Coomera Shopping Centre being built on Foxwell Road at Coomera.

Emergency services were called to the worksite around 2.30pm after a crane tipped onto its side.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene and treated a man for minor injuries.

Firefighters also attended, with reports the crane may have been leaking diesel.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured and no damage was caused to the new building.

Workplace Health and Safety is investigating.
