Crash triggers commuter chaos on the M1

THE afternoon commute home from Brisbane has been thrown into disarray following a multi-vehicle crash on the Gold Coast’s M1.

It happened in the southbound lanes of the motorway near the Coomera off-ramp just before 4.30pm.

It’s understood a motoryclist was thrown from his motorbike in the collision.


Paramedics, including the city’s High Acuity Response Unit, attended the scene.

Conscious and breathing, the motorcyclist was treated on the roadside before being taken to hospital.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the patient was transported in a stable condition with a wrist injury. A critical care paramedic accompanied the patient in the back of the ambulance.

The incident has thrown southbound traffic into disarray, with cars backed up at least 18km to Beenleigh.
