7PM SATURDAY: MULTIPLE fire crews will remain on scene of the Bonogin Valley bushfire throughout the night.

Fire fighters are stationed near Chesterfield Road, Tourmaline Court and Smith Road North, conducting asset protection and using earth moving machinery to create fire breaks.

Emergency services have also conducted aerial bombing in the area over the afternoon.

The blaze, which started when high winds toppled powerlines around 9:20am on Friday, poses no immediate threat to property.

Residents are advised to be aware of falling trees that may be weakened due to fire and strong winds.

Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed and medication on hand if suffering from a respiratory illness.

Smoke may affect visibility, motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and be aware of emergency vehicles operating in the area.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
