Defence Force investigating after man, child injured in explosion

The Australian Defence Force has been called in to investigate after a man and child were injured in an explosion at a home in NSW.

Around 10.00pm last night, emergency services rushed to a house on Morna Point Road in Anna Bay, where they found a 37-year-old man and a four-year-old girl suffering lacerations from a blast.

The pair were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene has been established and a number of items have been removed from the home and rendered safe by Australian Defence Force specialist personnel.

There’s reports the explosion may have been caused by old ammunition or a military item that the man had found on a beach and taken home.
