Delays after kangaroo run over and killed on M1

TRAFFIC has been thrown into disarray on the M1 after a kangaroo was run over and killed on the Gold Coast.

The animal was struck in the southbound lanes near Movie World at Helensvale on Saturday morning.

The incident has triggered delays through the area, with southbound traffic backed up for at least 10km.

Crews are on the scene, removing the dead kangaroo from the motorway.
