Desperate search continues for man missing in Brisbane River

UPDATE: POLICE are continuing to search for a man who went missing in the Brisbane River at Karana Downs yesterday afternoon.

At around 2.15pm, a 21-year-old man entered the river from Kookaburra Park and failed to return.

A Queensland Water Police vessel and two other vessels are being used to search the body of water in the Kookaburra Park vicinity.

The search also continued overnight.

Police would like to advise that Kookaburra Park, including the water-area, is closed to all public especially those launching or using any watercraft.

YESTERDAY: EMERGENCY crews are tonight desperately searching for a man who vanished in the Brisbane River on Sunday.

Reports indicate that the man, 21, disappeared in deep water at Kookaburra Park in Karana Downs shortly before 3pm.

Witnesses said the man failed to resurface after diving under to retrieve a ball. 

Nine News reported that bull sharks were often caught in the area where the man went missing.

Water police and rescue crews swooped on the popular swimming spot and were still actively searching for the man at 6.30pm.
