Body of 5yo boy found after boat capsizes in NSW

LATEST @ 9.00 AM | The search for a missing child and man has ended in tragedy this morning, with the body of a 5-year-old boy recovered from a capsized boat in NSW.

A search for the pair resumed this morning after a boat carrying four people overturned near Bulli Point just after 6.20pm on Saturday.

Two men, aged 31 and 23, were pulled from the water by the Ambulance chopper around 8pm last night and treated for hypothermia.

The pair were then taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Due to dangerous conditions, the search for the child and a 28-year-old man had to be suspended late last night.

The capsized boat was towed into Port Kembla Harbour early this morning, where sadly Police Divers located the body of a five-year-old boy.

The search continues to locate the missing man.

EARLIER @ 7.00 AM | A major search for a missing man and child is set to resume in waters off the Illawarra coast in NSW this morning.

Four people were on board a boat when it capsized near Bulli Point just after 6.20pm last night.

Officers, with assistance from the Marine Area Command, PolAir, the Ambulance helicopter and Surf Life Saving NSW launched a desperate search for the group.

About 8.00pm, two men aged 31 and 23, were pulled from the water by the Ambulance chopper and treated for hypothermia.

The pair were then taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Due to dangerous conditions, the search had to be suspended for the missing 5-year-old boy and 28-year-old man late last night.

The search is continuing today, however police say it could prove difficult with large waves and reef in the area.
