Driver killed after hitting parked truck

A DRIVER has been killed after crashing into a parked truck in Sydney’s west.

It happened on Newtown Road at Wetherill Park shortly after 6pm last night.

Police said a Toyota Landcruiser was travelling west when it struck a heavy vehicle trailer which was parked on the other side of the road.

Sadly, the 37-year-old man driving the Toyota was critically injured and could not be revived.

Police confirmed the driver died before he could taken to hospital.

His passenger, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment to facial injuries.

Officers from Fairfield Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
