Driver killed in crash on country highway

A MAN has tragically died after losing control of his car and slamming into a tree in country Victoria.

It happened on the Glenelg Highway near Hamilton, just west of Bochara, about 5.50am on Saturday.

Sadly, the male driver and sole occupant died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be established and the investigation is ongoing.

Road closures are currently in place near the corner of Glenelg Highway and Henty Highway, with traffic being diverted north towards Cavendish.

A temporary diversion is also in place Wannon-Nigretta Falls Road, with cars and B-double trucks to be diverted towards either Coleraine or Cavendish.
