Driver killed in crash wasn’t wearing a seat belt: Police

A WOMAN who was killed after her car hit a tree in regional Victoria wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time, police say.

The accident happened on the Pyrenees Highway at Muckleford just after 7am on Sunday.

Police said the woman’s Nissan Dualis left the highway and slammed into a tree near Bassett Road.

The driver could not be saved and died at the scene.

“It appears the driver was unrestrained at the time,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

The woman was the only person travelling in the car at the time and is yet to be formally identified.

Police are wanting to speak with anyone who seen the crash, or drove past the scene to come forward.
