MORE than 5000 people have died of Ebola according to a toll released by the The World Health Organisation.
The WHO said 5,160 people had died of Ebola in eight countries, out of 14,098 cases of infection
However, it’s believed the death toll could be higher with the fatality rate in the current outbreak known to be about 70%.

Ebola appears to spreading to Mali, with four confirmed deaths, while Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone continue to be most affected by the outbreak.
In the latest toll, WHO said 2836 deaths were recorded in Liberia, 1169 in Sierra Leone and 1142 in Guinea.
Ebola is spread only through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person showing symptoms such as fever or vomiting.
