Two people seriously injured in light plane crash in NSW

UPDATE @ 1.30pm: Two people have been seriously injured in a light plane crash south of Sydney.

The four-seater aircraft crash landed in a paddock just off Macquarie Grove Road, near Kirkham around 11.20am.

Luckily, a police helicopter on a training exercise was nearby and landed soon after the plane crash.


The crew of the police helicopter were able to rescue the 24-year-old male pilot and his 23-year-old female passenger.

The pair were taken to Liverpool Hospital where they are understood to be in a serious but stable condition.

Police said initial inquiries show the plane had only just taken off from Camden Airport when it developed engine trouble.

Investigations are ongoing.

EARLIER @ 11.40am: A light plane has crashed near an airport in NSW.

Fire & Rescue NSW says the plane came down in a paddock near Camden Airport around 11.30am.

Emergency crews are currently at the scene treating two passengers. Their injuries are unknown.
