Emergency works underway after water main erupts in Mudgeeraba

Motorists are being warned to expect delays in Mudgeeraba this morning, with emergency roadworks underway in the area.

A burst water main which erupted late yesterday afternoon along Gold Coast Springbrook Road has caused the chaos.

“Burst water main with asphalt damage at the intersection with Old Coach Road,” the Department of Transport and Main Roads said.

At least one lane has been closed, with delays expected.

A city spokesperson told myGC that the safety of staff, residents and visitors remains the number one priority.

“The City is aware of a water main break which continues to occur at the corner of Old Coach Road and Franklin Drive in Mudgeeraba” the spokesperson said.

“The City has commenced repairs and will return services to normal as soon as possible but this may take several hours.

“This will involve the use of machinery and as such some noise and temporary lighting may be used.”

Council says some residents in the area are also experiencing an interruption to their water supply.

“Customers will be door knocked to inform them of the situation and impacted customers will be provided with bottled water if required.”

“Lower than usual water pressure may be experienced by customers in the impacted area during the emergency works.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank all customers, residents and visitors for their patience and assistance.”
