Two of Queensland’s biggest electricity providers are on the hunt for the next generation of professionals and are currently recruiting almost 100 apprentices across the state, including here in Southport.
It’s understood a number of jobs are up for grabs, including electricians, distribution and transmission linespersons, communications technicians and mechanical fitters.

Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said the apprenticeships are “golden opportunities to learn, earn and make a real difference while training and working on one of the world’s largest electricity networks.”
“These aren’t just jobs – they’re some of the most sought-after trade career launchpads in Queensland,” he said.
“Many apprenticeships are secured by local people, meaning that they can develop their skills while remaining in the community with their family and friends.”
The current recruitment comes on top of 100 apprentices who started early this year as well as another 24 who will begin their careers at the end of July.
