Former Gold Coast Mayoral candidate Penny Toland has been found guilty of lying to the corruption watchdog over donations during her 2016 campaign.
Ms Toland lost the 2016 council election to Mayor Tom Tate, before she was accused of accepting a $38,000 donation from the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union.
It’s believed some of the donation funds were used for bus advertisements, which Ms Toland claimed she knew nothing about.
