Fatal crash forces closure of Queensland’s Bruce Highway

A MOTORIST has been killed and five other people have been injured in a horror three car crash on the Bruce Highway this morning.

Police say initial investigations suggest that around 10.20am, a car heading north on the Bruce Highway collided with another car heading south, approximately 20km south of Innisfail.

A B-double truck also heading south on the highway was unable to avoid the collision and collided with one of the cars.

“The driver of the car which collided with the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Queensland police confirmed in a statement.

Queensland Ambulance said five other people were transported in a stable condition to Innisfail Hospital.

Both lanes on the highway are currently closed at Cowley and are expected to be out of action for a number of hours.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
