Fire crews rush to Southport building fire

A Southport street has been closed after a building caught fire on Friday morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Minnie Street, just off Ferry Road around 9.45am.

It’s believed fire tore through rental sheds behind the Red Cross Blood Bank.

Seven fire crews remain on scene, with locals urged to keep their windows shut as it is currently unknown what is inside the sheds.

Minnie Street remains closed with motorists advised to avoid the area.

Traffic along Ferry Road is quite congested.
