UPDATE @ 3.00PM: Gold Coast Airport has returned to normal after an earlier issue in the baggage handling area.
Fire fighters were called to the airport just before 1pm after reports of a gas smell.
Crews inspected the area as they tried to find the source of the odour.

They have since given the area the all clear.
The issue caused some delays for passengers earlier this afternoon but they have now been resolved.
EARLIER @ 2.00PM: Fire crews are on scene at Gold Coast Airport this afternoon, investigating reports of a gas smell.
Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton confirmed the incident is in the baggage handling area.
In a statement to myGC, she said there’s been some delays for passengers waiting to collect their bags.
“We are working to resolve an issue in the baggage handling area in the terminal that has caused some delays for passengers this afternoon,” Ms Charlton said.
Two Queensland Fire and Emergency crews are on scene supporting Gold Coast Airport firies.
A QFES spokesperson told myGC they’re still working to identify the source of the smell.
