A MAN has survived a night on a boat with a large shark bite after being injured while fishing in waters off the Central Queensland Coast yesterday.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the man was bitten on the upper left arm while reeling a large reef shark onto a boat at Swain Reefs around 5.00pm.
It’s not known what took so long to raise the alarm, but the 55-year-old was brought to shore by the vessel about 6.15am today, where he was met by paramedics at Rosslyn Bay Harbour near Yeppoon.

QAS Rockhampton operations supervisor Brad Miers said despite the serious extent of the man’s injury, he was in a “remarkable condition”.
“We had a good chat to the gentlemen and he stated that he caught a large reef shark and as he went to pull it on board it turned and bit him on the upper arm,” Mr Miers said.
“Despite a large wound to his upper arm, he is in a remarkable condition… very joyful.”
The man has since been taken to Rockhampton Hospital for treatment.
It’s the third shark bite off the Queensland Coast in just three weeks.
