Gary Ablett has spoken for the first time since returning to Geelong from the Gold Coast and says there was not one particular reason for his return to the Cats.
Throughout 2017, Ablett spoke about how he wanted to go home to Geelong for personal reasons and be closer to his family.
“I wouldn’t say there was one thing in particular (that got me back here) there’s been a fair bit going on in the last month that you’d all be well aware of,” he said.

His sister, Natasha, passed away last month.
This morning, he spoke about how he’s longed to be back at his boyhood club, the Cats.
“The second thing is I love this football club, this is the football club I grew up supporting,” he said.
“I feel I can offer a lot to the list.”

The Suns inaugural captain said he would never regret his decision to move from Geelong to the Gold Coast in 2011.
“For me that’s what I needed, moving away taking myself out of my comfort zone and working with a young list helped me grow a lot as a person and a leader.”
