V8 Supercars’ Chief Operating Officer Shane Howard says the parade is designed to get locals in the mood to party and at the same time say thank you for ongoing support.
“This parade is really a standout spectacle and – in many ways – a gift to the people of the Gold Coast to say thank you for letting us host this fabulous motorsport event in your backyard,” he said.
The parade will kick off from the corner of View Avenue and the Esplanade at 2pm and will travel down the Esplanade, turn right into Elkhorn, before heading down Surfers Paradise Boulevard and down Cavill Mall.
At the end of Cavill mall, the parade will head South along the Esplanade before concluding at Laycock Street with the whole parade intended to take approximately 40 minutes.
Mr Howard said people should plan ahead with transportation so as not to get dissapointed.
“We recommend people arrive early to secure their vantage point. Public transport is a great way to get to Surfers Paradise. And, with the weather predicted to be fine, don’t forget a hat, sunscreen and water,” he said.
The parade is one of many off-track events scheduled throughout the next week in celebration of the GC600 which is held from October 24-26.
