Get active & healthy at a free family-friendly fitness event this Sunday

Gold Coasters of all ages are being encouraged to put their health first and get their bodies moving this winter.

The City of Gold Coast is hosting a free Active & Healthy Lifestyle Event at HOTA this Sunday from 8am until 12pm to inspire locals to follow a healthy lifestyle.

Senior Active Parks Officer Sam Hughes told myGC the event will give residents a taste of the many free and low cost sport, recreation and fitness activities on offer across the city.

“The event is a chance for us to celebrate the legacy of the games and launch our new Active & Healthy Lifestyle Program for 2018/2019,” she said

“This Sunday, Gold Coasters will able to enjoy loads of fitness classes on the outdoor stage, from yoga through to tai chi, and there will be a series of activities taking place by the lake as well.

“It will be the first time a fitness event has been held at HOTA, so we are encouraging everyone to come down and enjoy all the fun on offer.”

Ms Hughes said in addition to fitness classes, there will be rock climbing, stand up paddle workshops, circus activities, a pop up playground, an inflatable cricket and AFL zone, and loads of other sport and fitness activities.

The event will also host some celebrations for NAIDOC week, including a didgeridoo performance and bush tucker workshop, as well as a number of creative activities.

The Bundall Farmers Markets will be on throughout the morning too, with plenty of fresh produce available to purchase.

8.15am – Sound off at Surfers – Silent yoga with headphones (waitlist only)
9am – Tai Chi with live musicians
10am – Zuu community boot camp
10am – Afro Groove drumming
11am – High energy Zumba

10.30am – Earth Mother family mealtime magic workshop

11am to 11.30am – Afro Groove drumming workshop
