EMILY Seebohm who was tipped to be the favourite to win the women’s 50 metre backstroke has failed to fire overnight.

Better news for Daniel Tranter who claimed gold in the 200 individual medley, with Gold Coaster Thomas Fraser-Holmes just missing third spot.

Fellow local Cameron McEvoy was second and James Magnussen third in the 50 metre freestyle.

Bronte Barratt touched the wall in third place in the 400 metre swim.
