Gold Coast 600: Road Closures and Changes

DON’T get stuck in traffic during the Gold Coast 600!

Motorists are advised to the avoid the race precinct area and are urged to take alternative routes if possible.

Queensland Police are stationed at a number of areas around the to direct traffic, so be sure to follow the new rules.

FULL LIST OF ROAD CLOSURES/CHANGES:

Surfers Paradise
•Gold Coast Highway – Right hand turn into Surfers Paradise Boulevard is closed. Access from Ocean Avenue remains open – Oct 15 to Nov 11
•Gold Coast Highway – Left hand southbound lane into Surfers Paradise Boulevard closed between Gold Coast Highway and the corner of Surfers Paradise Blvd and The Esplanade – Oct 3 to Oct 31
•Ferny Avenue – Bus lane will be installed from Via Roma to the Marriott Hotel – Oct 22 to Oct 27
•The Esplanade – Limited to local traffic from View Avenue to Ocean Avenue. Northbound traffic for Main Beach and Surfers Paradise turn left at View Avenue and follow directional signs. Surfers Paradise Boulevard is southbound only – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•The Esplanade – closed from Ocean Avenue to Main Beach Parade between 7am and 7pm – Oct 24 to Oct 26
•Ocean Avenue – Limited to local traffic from Ferny Avenue to The Esplanade. Ocean Avenue between Ferny Avenue and Surfers Paradise boulevard is one way – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Ocean Avenue – Closed from the Gold Coast Highway to The Esplanade between 7am and 7pm – Oct 24 to Oct 26

Main Beach
•Gold Coast Highway – Southbound lanes closed from Tedder Avenue to Ferny Avenue. Northbound lanes will operate as a two way system – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Waterways Drive – Northbound traffic on Gold Coast Highway can access Main Beach & the Spit via Waterways Drive. Southbound  traffic  on  Gold
•Coast Highway wishing to access Main Beach & the Spit must enter the left hand lane prior to the Southport Sundale Bridge – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Main Beach Parade – Closed Breaker Street to Ocean Avenue between 7am and 7pm. Traffic is one way northbound. Limited to local traffic from Woodroffe Avenue to Breaker Street – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Breaker Street – Changed one way traffic flow westbound from Tedder Avenue to Rankin Parade.  Limited local traffic from Serisier Avenue to Tedder Avenue between 7am and 7pm – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Breaker Street – Closed from Serisier Avenue to Main Beach Parade between 7am and 7pm – Oct 24 to Oct 26
•Rankin Parade – Changes to one way traffic northbound at Breaker Street. Limited local traffic from Breaker Street to Woodroffe Avenue – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Pacific Street – limited local traffic from Aloha lane to Breaker Street – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Pacific Street – Vehicular entrance onto track between 7pm and 7am – Oct 24 to Oct 26
•Aloha Lane – Change to one way traffic flow eastbound – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Cronin Avenue – Change to one way traffic flow eastbound – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Tedder Avenue – changes to one way southbound and limited local traffic from Cronin Avenue to Breaker Street – Oct 20 to Oct 27

Paradise Waters
•Admiralty Drive – Traffic travelling southbound on the Gold Coast highway will not be able to turn right into Admiralty Drive – Oct 20 to Oct 27
•Admiralty Drive – Police will be on duty manning the intersection at Admiralty Drive and Gold Coast Highway. There will be no slip lanes (left in & left out) of Admiralty Drive – Oct 22 to Oct 27
•Paradise Waters – Limited to local traffic only – Oct 24 to Oct 26

Budds Beach
•Birt Avenue/Norfolk Avenue/Pine Avenue/Palm Avenue – No entry/exit onto Ferny Avenue. Access to Gold Coast Highway via Cypress Avenue – Oct 22 to Oct 27
•Cypress Avenue – Police will man the intersection of Cypress Avenue and Ferny Avenue – Oct 22 to Oct 27
•Riverview Parade – Police will man the intersection between Thomas Drive and Riverview Parade – Oct 22 to Oct 27

Race Precinct
Access to race precinct between 7pm &  7am from Oct 24 to Oct 26 available through the following:
Surfers Paradise
•Corner of The Esplanade & Ocean Avenue – entrance & Exit
•Surfers  Paradise Boulevard – exit only
Main  Beach
•Pacific Street – Entrance Only
•Tedder Avenue – Exit Only
*On Friday 24 October access to the precinct via these roads will be closed to all traffic till 8.30pm

PARKING RESTRICTIONS:

There are a number of changes to the parking in the streets of Main Beach, Budds Beach and Paradise Waters.There are also changes to where bus stops are located – please keep an eye out when parking on the street. Gold Coast City Council parking signs will be enforced and penalties apply.
