THE V8 Supercars will take over the streets of Surfers Paradise from today.
The high octane action will kick off with four practice sessions to be held on the almost 3 kilometre track.
Championship leader and homegrown hero Jamie Whincup, a six time race winner, will be aiming to lay down a marker to his rivals.

However, Ford’s Mark Winterbottom is expected to be hot on his tail as he aims to keep his title hopes alive.
Winterbottom heads into the event trailing Whincup in the standings by 297 points.
Three events remain in 2014, meaning time is running out for Winterbottom to close the gap on his rival.
A maximum haul of 300 points is potentially on offer if the 2013 Bathurst champion can win both races.
Last year’s race was won by Bottle-O Racing’s David Reynolds.
Practice will kick off from 9am before a 300km race each on Saturday and Sunday.
