GOLD Coast beaches are closed today due to dangerous conditions.
Large and powerful surf has battered the sand across most of the Coast this morning, with waves of up to 6 metres recorded around 6am this morning.
Chief Lifeguard Warren Young said beaches are closed across the Gold Coast as a precaution.

“It should settle down a bit tomorrow but we’ll check it out tomorrow morning once again,” Young said.
The Weather Bureau still has a warning of large and powerful surf in place for tomorrow.
There’s also a severe weather warning in place for strong and damaging winds.
