More Gold Coasters will be able to roll up their sleeves and donate blood, with the Robina and Southport Donor Centres extending their hours from today.
Both centres will now open from 7am Monday to Saturday, and from 8am on Sunday.
In order to prevent a potential shortage of supplies, every week Australian Red Cross Lifeblood needs to collect 900 blood and plasma donations on the Gold Coast alone.

Spokesperson Kristy Purnell told myGC they are hoping to encourage 300 new donors to give blood on the Gold Coast each month.
“Going into winter, we often see a drop in donors, however the need for blood doesn’t stop,” she said.
“We are encouraging those healthy and well to make an appointment to donate.
“Giving blood takes only one hour of your time and it can save up to three lives.
“There is no substitute for blood and we need blood of every type, every day to save the lives of thousands of Australians.”
