Gold Coast drug dealer accused of threatening to bomb Australian embassy in Jordan

A CONVICTED Gold Coast drug dealer is accused of threatening to bomb the Australian embassy in Jordan.

The ABC reports Ali al-Hasanat threatened to blow up the Australian embassy in a message sent from his Facebook account and has threatened to kill Australian tourists.

al-Hasanat came to Australia from Jordan in 2001 and became a permanent resident in 2004.

He spent time behind bars in Queensland for a string of criminal offences before he was deported by the Australian Government in 2012.

He was detained in Jordan in September.

The 38-year-old’s trial at the State Security Court in Amman has been delayed to allow him time to find a lawyer.

He faces a maximum of 15 years in jail if convicted.
