Burleigh BBQ Championships 2018
ON the mornings of 25 and 26 August, it’s not fog you’ll see rising over Burleigh…it will be smoke from 50 of Australia’s and the US’s best BBQ competition teams battling it out for the highest honour in the annual Burleigh BBQ Championships.
For the first time in Burleigh BBQ history, teams will face one of their biggest fights for bragging rights in the beef category with the 2018 ‘Brisket Challenge’. Our sponsors, Black Onyx by Rangers Valley, will give each team one of their world-famous briskets to cook and present to the judges – levelling the playing field this year in beef.
The pit yard will be open to the public from 9am-5pm Saturday and 6am – 4pm Sunday so you can mingle with the masters, check out some of the biggest smokers you’ve ever seen and watch the theatrics unfold.
There will also be a trade area and market stalls where you can suss out, and purchase, all the BBQ equipment you need to start smoking at home. Also 4 opportunities to learn from 2 USA world champion BBQ cooks. Andy Groneman team “Smoke on Wheels” and Sterling Smith “Loot N Booty” will perform 2 classes each starting from Wednesday 22 at the North Burleigh Surf Club. Mr Smith will also be competing.
Once you’ve built up an appetite you can eat your fill of BBQ from the likes of Black Iron Smokers, The Smoke Barrel, Fired Up BBQ, Burleigh Smoke House and Wing Fix parked next to the pit yard, enjoy live entertainment from amazing local musicians and make a visit to the Burleigh Brewing bar.
So pack a picnic blanket, grab your family or friends and head to North Burleigh Heads Esplanade for two huge days of BBQ and free entertainment.
The Burleigh BBQ Championships are proudly sponsored by Green Mountain Grill Pellet Smokers, Black Onyx, Black Iron Smokers, Ministry of Smoke, Burleigh Brewing, Clean Heat Charcoal, Rub HQ, Prime Cut Meats and City of Gold Coast.
The Burleigh BBQ Championships brings smoke on the water, meat on the beach and some of Australia’s best BBQ teams together to battle it out over two days on 25 and 26 August 2018 at spectacular Burleigh Heads. The event is FREE for the public.
