Live At Bond – Vaudeville Smash & The Steele Syndicate
Bond University’s free concert series ‘Live at Bond’ will wrap up for the year with a show-stopping finale, presenting its first double header featuring two of the fastest rising musical acts in Australia – global sensation Vaudeville Smash and Brisbane-based octet The Steele Syndicate.
The last Live at Bond for the year will be held on Sunday, November 4, with free entry and all ages welcome, and will kick-off with The Steele Syndicate, known for its feel-good music.
The Steele Syndicate has been making its mark on the Queensland music scene with its genre-bending music, which combines elements of old school funk, reggae and indie paired with a four-piece horn section. The band is hitting the road to tour their new single (and EP), Sedona, which sounds like it is straight from a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack. The Sedona EP was written while driving through Arizona and the USA’s ‘wild west’.
The band has performed at the Sydney Opera House, headlined a community festival on the Sunshine Coast, toured to Byron Bay, and played ‘A Set Adrift’ on a yacht off Mooloolaba, with the Live at Bond show marking the start of its whirlwind east coast tour.
Following The Steele Syndicate will be Melbourne-based band of brothers and friends, Vaudeville Smash, which has built a formidable following around the world.
The band shot into the global spotlight following the release of its 2014 single, Zinedine Zidane, which became a viral hit with over 10 million YouTube views and featured on Billboard, ESPN, Eurosport and the BBC.
Since then, Vaudeville Smash has played everywhere from the Sapporo City Jazz Festival to the USA’s epic South by Southwest, along with shows in New York, Singapore, Toronto and the Australian Open Tennis.
The Bond University show is the third in the band’s east coast tour to launch their new single La Plume De Ma Tante – the first single from their long awaited third studio album, produced by Nashville’s Grammy award-winning Bobby Holland.
Vaudeville Smash has built its reputation on its explosive live shows, and have garnered a following of diehard fans throughout Australia and overseas.
The Live at Bond finale will be held in the outdoor ADCO Amphitheatre – commencing at 3pm on Sunday, November 4.
