World Picnic with Larissa Waters
Please join us for a picnic BBQ to meet with Gold Coast neighbours from around the world, Co-hosted by the Multicultural Families Organisation.
The Gold Coast is one of the most diverse stretches of beach in Queensland. Many generations of migrants from all continents have adopted this area and helped make it the unique place it is.
At a time when it’s become common for politicians to dismiss the contributions of migrants to Queensland and beyond, it’s time to try something different. This Saturday 3 November, let’s connect with our neighbours from around the Gold Coast, so that you can get to know Larissa Waters, your representative for Queensland in the Senate, in a relaxed setting.
We will have some snacks and a BBQ. If you would like to bring a plate of food to share, you are very welcome to.
What to bring:
– Picnic blankets
– Balls and other outdoor games
– Musical instruments
– Friends and family
– Hats and sunscreen
This is an opportunity to let Larissa know the things that concern you, and how you would like her to advocate for you in the parliament in Canberra.
This is a relaxed and casual event open to people of all ages and walks of life. Refugees, asylum seekers and their supporters are especially encouraged to join.
This is a free community event, but registrations are encouraged to make sure we have enough food for everyone. All are welcome!
Vegan, gluten-free and halal options available. If you have questions about dietary requirements or anything else, please contact the Queensland Greens Senate office on 3367 0566
This event takes place in the country of Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
The Southport Light Rail station is 100 metres away from the venue
