Gold Coast men to have a conversation that goes ‘Beyond The Beers’

Gold Coast men will learn how to have more honest conversations at an upcoming event at Miami Marketta in August.

Beyond The Beers: Conversations & Cool Stuff For Men will flip the script on ‘locker-room talk’, and give men the tools they need to overcome challenges and express themselves in a healthier way.

Organiser Mike Campbell told myGC the event is a chance for local men to get real for a couple of hours.

“From a young age we are told that to be a man you must be strong, you must not show any emotion or any vulnerability. With that, many of us develop this fear of being judged. We feel like we constantly need to prove our masculinity and we learn not to open up and talk about how we are feeling,” he said.

“This event is an opportunity for men to let go of all of that, and learn how to communicate more effectively.”

Mr Campbell said the aim of Beyond the Beers was to get beyond the surface.

“We showcase real mean having real conversations about things we usually avoid. Everyone has struggles, and we want to give men the support, strength and skills to be able to open up and have more meaningful conversations.”
