Gold Coast mum finds deadly brown snake slithering in baby’s cot

Every parent’s worst nightmare.

A Gold Coast mum has had a terrifying encounter with one of the world’s deadliest snakes after discovering it slithering around her baby daughter’s cot.

The venomous serpent was found making itself at home in the infant’s bed at the weekend, just an hour after the youngster had reportedly been asleep in the exact same spot.

Mother Alecia Mitchley told 9NEWS that the discovery was “petrifying”.

“It was petrifying, I was very scared. I didn’t know what to do,” Ms Mitchley said in an interview with Nine.

Luckily, the little girl was unharmed and the snake was removed safely.

It’s not the first time a brown snake has been found slithering around a child’s bedroom on the coast.

Just last year a six-foot eastern brown was spotted wrapped around a young boy’s LEGO set at a home at Tallebudgera.
