Gold Coast police bust man with gun, tasers and meth in stolen car [photos]

UPDATE @ 3.20 PM | A MAN allegedly caught with a large quantity of drugs and weapons after police intercepted a stolen car at Nerang on Sunday has been remanded in custody.

The 36-year-old didn’t apply for bail when he appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

He’s been charged with three counts of possessing a weapon, two counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, assaulting a police officer, possessing explosives (ammunition), possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of being proceeds of a drug offence, supplying dangerous drugs and possessing utensils.

The man is due back in court on August 21, 2018.

EARLIER @ 10.30 AM | A MAN has been busted with a large quantity of drugs and weapons after police intercepted a stolen car at Nerang on Sunday.

Officers from the Rapid Action Patrol group pulled over the vehicle on Hinkler Drive around midnight.

Police said the 36-year-old male driver became violent and a fight broke out, during which a Senior Constable was pushed to the ground, injuring his knee.

The man then tried to make a run for it, but was arrested after a short foot-chase.

“It is alleged that a subsequent search of the stolen vehicle uncovered a firearm, two electronic conductive devices, a set of knuckle-dusters, several rounds of ammunition, methyl-amphetamine, a pipe and cash,” police said in a statement.
