Australian Retailers Association Executive Director Russell Zimmerman says clothing and technology are tipped to be popular buys.
“We know that footwear is a big item, we certainly know that people look for their return-to-work clothes in the Boxing Day sales so we’re expecting quite a strong amount of sales in the apparel area,” Mr Zimmerman said.
“But also electronics and household goods are always big sellers.”
Department stores are expected to be particularly busy with Myer and David Jones offering up to 50% off a range of items including clothes, homewares and manchester.
Harvey Norman is also expecting bumper crowds at its Bundall and Tweed Heads stores with some huge discounts on offer on furniture, white goods and electrical items.
